I want to share with you a conversation I had with one very dear member of our ALTA community, she called me and asked me a FIRPTA question, and she said because she had a really bad experience with a foreign seller years back she was determine never to work another FIRPTA transaction again, which of course I told her we were here to guide her and take care of all the details and paperwork but got me thinking, how many times do we turn business away because we do not have the resources, knowledge, contacts, information etc.
I have found this community to be very helpful, knowledgeable and willing to assist, share their experiences and provide solutions, at least in the FIRPTA department I encourage you to find out very early in the process if any foreign seller is involved and if so, reach out for a tax professional, remember FIRPTA is a tax matter and I do not recommend Title agents to give advice unless you happen to understand Treasury regulations well, otherwise, please know that you can always reach out to us and we will be glad to assist and make FIRPTA easy for you! 😊
