  • 1.  Wire Fraud Training for Employees, Realtors, and Consumers?

    Posted 04-21-2025 10:46

    Hi Everyone,

We had a customer ask an interesting question: What are other title agents using to train their employees, Realtors, and consumers about wire fraud?

I know at one point ALTA had a couple of videos.

Besides the obvious benefit of not being a victim, are there any other benefits of doing this, such as savings on a cyber policy?

    Thanks,

    Hi Eliot,

ALTA has some great resources for fraud education and awareness-especially the daily NYCU headlines. I'd definitely recommend signing up if you haven't already.

And a quick (slightly shameless) plug-at CertifID, we're big on education and offer a number of free resources for the industry. That includes:

All are completely free and open to the public.

    Hope this helps!

It's not specific to wire fraud, but we use Knowbe4 for cyber security training internally. You can set up training as well as campaigns that will send phishing e-mails to test your employees.  We require employees to complete training on a yearly basis.

For consumers, we have info on the homepage (and several others) of our website, in our e-mail signatures, and on our phone recording for when you're placed on hold.

We use Knowbe4 as well to train our employees on cybersecurity issues, and I would recommend it – it's short videos with a quiz after.

For fraud awareness, one of the best tools I've found are the fraud email newsletters that come from our title underwriters that recount real-life title agent fraud stories.  The stories are a good way to learn specific behaviors that constitute red flags, and even though they only come maybe once a quarter, it's a regular reminder that helps to keep the possibility of fraud in your mind as you work.  If your underwriter doesn't do that, there's probably another source out there.  ALTA?
