It didn't take long to combine Fraud with ChatGPT formally. There is a new development that is causing concern in the realm of online security. A tool known as FraudGPT has been created, and it has the potential to be incredibly harmful. This tool allows cybercriminals to generate fake emails, undetectable malware, and other malicious code. It has been available on darkweb marketplaces for purchase since July 22, 2023, for $200 per month. Even more concerning is the fact that this tool has already been sold over 3,000 times.
What makes tools like FraudGPT particularly worrisome is that AI models such as OpenAI ChatGPT and Google Bard have been taking measures to prevent their misuse in deceptive emails and malicious code. These tools elevate the Phishing-as-a-Service (PhaaS) model and serve as a platform for inexperienced individuals seeking to carry out large-scale and persuasive phishing and BEC attacks. Given the potential impact of such attacks, it is essential that we remain vigilant.
