The one good thing coming out of these frauds is that more county clerks and registers across the country are being made aware of this type of fraud and are consequently setting up fraud alert provisions, allowing homeowners to register their homes. If a document is subsequently presented for recording, the homeowner is notified prior to the document actually being placed of record. Most of New Jersey's 21 counties and many in Florida have already put these programs in place. The problem now, is to familiarize property owners of these programs (Good-bye Title Lock).

Subject: An interesting news article worth discussing (attached as a Word document)
Good morning! There are some interesting title insurance issues here, so I wanted to start a discussion. The chutzpah of the people who tried to pull this fraud off, is also worth discussing.
