Great question Dick!
So I'll take off my business consultant vendor hat for a moment and dust off my title agent hat and see what I can do to offer some thoughts.
Personally, when I saw you at the PLTA spring conference, I loved being able to see the live environment and demo it right then and there. If nothing else, I walked away with a picture in my mind of what your software looked like. For a point of comparison, there were one or two vendors I met at ALTA One last year and I still haven't a clue what their software looks like and what it can or can't do.
The ability to schedule a future meeting or demo on the spot seems like a great idea too. I know I come home with such a huge stack of business cards from an event like ALTA One that it takes months to get through them all.
I'm a firm believer that people love to pick up freebie promo items, but it needs to be both unique and useful. I don't want to squeeze something into my suitcase if I'm going to throw it away later. But I tell you what, I brought home the coolest water bottle ever from Snapdocs last year at ALTA One. There was a dog water bowl that unscrewed from the bottom! Even better is when the promo stuff has graphics and taglines that are so cool that you want to wear/carry them around in life. I just designed a thermal coffee tumbler for my son's electrical company that he gave away as a door prize. No one wants to carry around a coffee tumbler that says "Resistance Electrical and Construction". But they were very excited to receive a top quality tumbler with fun and awesome graphics:

Subject: Agents: What do you want to see from Vendors at your LTA events?
Going to #PLTA or #MLTA or #VLTA or any of the other #LTA events this FALL? You're there to earn credits, mingle with industry experts and stop by the vendor booths to learn about their software, product, technology, right?
As a vendor promoting my widget (Title Production Software), what can we as vendors be doing better to engage with you at these events? Most will swing by to put their business card in in a bowl for a prize or grab some swag. But while you're at the booth/table dropping your business card in the bowl, what are the one or two things that would be capture your attention and create some organic conversation for a minute or two?
- Video of the software? Does having a video help, hurt or doesn't matter?
- Something to gamify a reason for you to stop by?
- iPad with calendar to setup future meetings because your time there is limited?
- Demo of software at booth?
Have you ever gone in with a plan to talk with a specific vendor and another vendor catches your attention so you pivot to their booth - that's what we are all looking for - what was it that caught your attention? Thanks to all that jump on and share their thoughts and experiences.
