I hope everyone is doing well, and having a great end of Q1 and start of Spring!  Speaking of Spring, ALTA Advocacy Summit will be here before we know it, May 16-18 in Washington, DC!

Just a quick note to encourage you to please register ASAP and come to DC for what is shaping up to be a great meeting!  We've just announced another tremendous addition (see below) to our speaker lineup with Sandra Thompson, Acting Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency overseeing Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks.

We're excited to hear from Director Thompson, Nathan Gonzalez of Inside Elections on the 2022 midterm elections, our House SECURE Notarization sponsors-Reps. Madeleine Dean (D-PA) and Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), as well as Freddie Mac senior economist Rana Yanamandra, Ph.D. on where the housing market is heading.  In addition, we'll have opportunities to network with Members of Congress at our Tuesday evening May 17th reception across the street from the Capitol on what is sure to be an incredible Springtime evening in DC!

Can't wait to see you all in DC in May!

    With gratitude,

Big news: ALTA is proud to host Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Acting Director Sandra Thompson during ALTA Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C., on May 17. Thompson will sit down for a conversation with ALTA CEO Diane Tomb to discuss the FHFA's work overseeing the safety and soundness and housing finance mission of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. This is your chance to hear straight from the source about how the FHFA is dealing with important challenges facing homebuyers, the housing market and the broader economy, including the continued need to promote sustainable and equitable access to credit and affordable housing opportunities nationwide.

The acting director of the FHFA since June 2021, Thompson's nomination to serve as the next director of the FHFA is currently before the full Senate. Since 2013, Thompson has served as Deputy Director of the Division of Housing Mission and Goals at FHFA, where she oversaw the agency's housing and regulatory policy, capital policy, financial analysis, fair lending and all mission activities for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Federal Home Loan Banks. Prior to joining FHFA, Thompson worked at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) for more than 23 years in a variety of leadership positions.

The room block closes April 20. During ALTA Advocacy Summit, you'll get the inside scoop on D.C. politics, hear from federal leaders and meet with several members of Congress and their staffs. This in-person and virtual event provides the only opportunity you'll have to engage with Congressional leaders and create a lasting impression on members of Congress.

As with ALTA's other events, we will be closely tracking any COVID-19 restrictions and keep you informed if there are any changes. As of March 1, Washington, D.C., has lifted its mask mandate in most indoor settings. While the keynote speakers, education and networking events will be in person at ALTA Advocacy Summit, meetings with legislators and their staffs will be conducted virtually from the hotel.

No need to feel intimidated: ALTA staff will walk you through everything you need to know before your meetings with legislators. We'll tell you what to expect and provide talking points you can use to ensure a successful visit.
